New Traditions

I decided 2009 is going to be the year of the beginning of new traditions for the Scribner family! 2 traditions we started this month were:

1.  Disneyland trip during Thanksgiving break!  This was Katelyn’s FIRST trip.  We thought is was going to be a cold, windy day and it turned out to be such a beautiful warm day at the happiest place on earth!  We had such a blast walking around taking in all the people, characters and many rides!  Katelyn loved the carousel the most, she began crying as soon as the ride was over!  I was so surprised she didn’t nap or fuss the whole time we were there.  We thought for sure she would have fallen asleep in the car on the way home and NOPE she was wide awake!!!!

2. Festival of Lights:  The day after Thanksgiving, Downtown Riverside is transformed into the sweetest, festive place to be-The Festival of Lights! There were 40,000 people in Downtown Riverside awaiting for the light switching of the Mission Inn.  OH MY GOSH!!!! This was such a spectacular event…  There was ice skating, Santa, a ginger bread house that sold coffee, tea, and all sorts of treats, all the shops were decorated for Christmas, Christmas carols and once the lights were turned on we witnessed an UH-MAZING firework display {better than the 4th of July or the ones @ the baseball game} We were all in aww of the wonderful show in the sky.

Can’t wait to do these events again, this Holiday Season!  They will also be a favorite for next year too! :)

Happy Holidays!

What are you thankful for?

Thanksgiving this year we had so much to be thankful for.  It was our first major holiday without Oma.  We laughed about many things she did that we took for granted on this wondrous turkey feast day.  It took us FOREVER to figure out how to make gravy.. {It was grams specialty}  We missed having her at the table and Grandpa who is recovering from hip surgery.  Oh, did I mention, the parent had my sister and I cook dinner????  OH WOW!  What a task that was!  We had a great time working together cooking our first big feast!  I am proud to report we didn’t burn anything and everything was deliciously edible.

After dinner with the Skajem family, we were on our way to our 2nd dinner with Mimi & Pops {Scribner Family}.  We had a great time playing holiday games such as riddles, and random weird holiday questions Mimi can find on the internet! :)  GOOD TIMES!

The Loss of a Loved One

On October 6, 2009 my grandma entered the gardens of heaven after a 5 year battle of Ovarian Cancer.  It was a bittersweet day, I am so grateful  Katelyn was able to meet and create memories for us with her Oma over the past year.  Grandma, you are missed so very much everyday!

We love you always!
